ABOUT SOUTHERN CROSS TAE KWON DO ACADEMY

Southern Cross Tae Kwon Do Academy, (SC TKD) is associated with WTF (World Tae Kwon DO Federation), Kukkiwon (World TKD Headquarters) and  Sports Tae Kwon Do Australia (The only government approved Tae Kwon Do National body in Australia).

Southern Cross TKD is for the whole family. With 30 years experience we have classes to suit the whole family, whether it be for fitness, co-ordination, confidence, self defence, flexibility or what ever you are looking for we can help you reach your ultimate goal.

Each class is structured for your individual needs and comprises of:

  • Warm up, which may include games, running, aerobic style exercise, a circuit, or what ever the instructor has planed for your lesson.
  • Stretching is essential in each class and is for the whole body.
  • The class then begins with bag work where we have targets, shields and / or punching bags.
  • Kicks and various hand attacks are done on the equipment.
  • The classes then vary with a mixture of other traditional and sports techniques.

Traditional TKD: develops discipline, self-control, co-ordination, improves your mental and physical attitude, and most importantly teaches you self defence.
Sports TKD: teaches you flexibility, speed, fitness, develops your reflexes and prepares you for tournament fighting.

Southern Cross Tae Kwon Do Academy offers many other activities students can participate in including,

  • 3 gradings per year
  • 1 Southern Cross TKD tournament a year in Newcastle, 1 internal tournament, 1 in Foster and 2 tournaments in Sydney
  • Demonstrations
  • Special Black Belt trainings
  • Instructor Programs
  • Various social events
